Thanksgiving08

My kids and "the cousins" from Georgia at the zoo.

Aunt Joy and Millie

My dad carving the turkey.

Hattie and Elijah B

This was the whole crew that ate Thanksgiving dinner at my parents house. It was us, my parents, my sister Joy, my sister Holly and her husband and 2 boys, Holly's mother-in-law, father-in-law and bro-in-law, Jody's parents, Jody's sister, her husband and their 4 kids and my mom's cousin and her son. Whew! It was GREAT!

A Great Movie

If you haven't seen Kit Kittredge you have GOT to!

After all our company left today, we watched it together. Even Luke liked it. It was very family friendly. Great actors...Chris O'Donell (a personal fav of mine), Joan Cusak, the little short guy from The Princess Bride...

Totally worth watching!!

Settling in

Millie Grace is the PERFECT baby thus far. She rarely cries. She doesn't mind being left alone. She has put herself right into her own little predictable schedule. And she LOVES to be warm and cozy.

The siblings are still obsessed and can't get enough of Millie!
The girls.

Just thought I'd throw this one in there, Silas is totally into his Legos. Here is a table and chairs set he made. He wants me to send this to the Lego magazine.

Luke will NOT pass up his turn to hold the baby. He is SO proud to be a big brother!!
Bundled up and warm. (Holly, I found this blanket that we couldn't find this summer! Whoops! Oh well, Millie LOVES is)

Hattie likes to take care of her babies like Mommy.

And in other news..............

I GOT A DISHWASHER!!!! Praise the LORD! I am THRILLED!!!!! Can tell?? Jody found it on Craigs List for $100. My dad help Jody get it hooked up and running and I am elated!

I have 4 kids

Like I just keep saying that to myself in disbelief, I guess.

Its funny. I haven't come across any major bumps in the road thus far. Millie Grace is a perfect baby! She just sleeps and eats, rarely crying. She's even sleeping pretty good lengths of time at night, like 5hours or so. Isn't that unbelievable?

Hattie and Luke can't leave her alone. Its very sweet but borderline obsessive. Silas feels like a pro at being a big brother. He's very sweet, but does his own thing too. Jody and I are SO proud. We think she's the most beautiful baby yet!

We go to the pediatrician for Millie's first checkup tomorrow morning. She will meet Pa (my dad) tomorrow, home from a mission trip. Then Wednesday all the other family starts to comes in. Jody's parents, sister, bro-in-law, and "the cousins". Then of course Thursday...my sister and her family. We've got a bunch of introductions coming up! Silas told me he knows everyone is going to want to hold his baby and we won't get to at all. That may be true...

Millie Pictures

Hattie was automatically in love!

The Siblings come to visit.

The BSU Council came to visit.

Millie had a pretty good night. She fussed a little and then spit up some mucus, so I guess that bothering her tummy. I HATE being in the hospital, so I am tapping my toes for the doctors (both mine and Millie's) to come in and say we can go home. I thought I'd pass the time posting pictures.

She's Here!

Millie Grace Jennings is in the world! My water broke while I was sleeping at 1:45am. Contractions started a little after 2am. They were close together immediately. So we called some great babysitters from the college and got to the hospital at about 3am. At 6:31am we had another daughter.

She weighed 7.5 lbs and was 19.5 inches long. She has a head of dark hair, blond eyebrows and blond eyelashes. Her head to perfectly shaped. She's really adorable! This first day has been an easy one. She doesn't really cry. I didn't have to have any stitches, so I am feeling wonderful...a little tired, but I can't really sleep.

My mom brought the kids over around 3pm. They were IN LOVE. No one could keep their hands off Millie. It was very sweet.

I will try and post pics here in a little while. My mom thoughtfully brought the cord for the camera.

The doctors said there's no reason why we can't go home tomorrow and that is WONDERFUL news to me too! I hate being in the hospital...its so annoying getting your blood pressure constantly checked and always being asked if I'm ok. I'm not a good patient, I'd rather be home.

A Great Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend! Saturday we went to a local kids event downtown, played outside in the leaves and spent some great time together. And today was birthday. Jody took me out to lunch and my mom let the kids decorate my FAVORITE cake that she makes. The kids were SOOOOOOOOOOOO proud of the cake they made. It was very sweet.

Not much to say

I know everyone is awaiting news of the baby, and because of that, I just don't have much else to say. Isn't that funny?

Everynight I think - this is it! I'm having little contraction and such, but they go away. I'm sleeping GREAT. The other night I didn't even wake up to use the bathroom! I'm feeling really good. So, I'm not tapping my toes or ready for an induction or anything like that. I know this baby will come when she's ready. (I hope she is a she! I'm feeling less and less confident in that)

The kids are getting very excited. We've told them that one morning when they wake up we may not be here, we will be at the hospital. The other morning, Silas was genuinely disappointed to see us "still here". Luke is concerned about the baby's ugly belly button. (he LOVES belly buttons). And Hattie asked Jody tonight if when the baby is born will she be a teenager.

Keep checking back. I'm planning on having the computer at the hospital so I can post as soon as possible.

A Few Cool Things

Today is my Grama B's 95th birthday. I really wanted to have to baby today just because what can you give a woman who has lived such a wonderful, full life? ( This pic was taken this summer.) She has only in the last year given up driving and living alone. She lives in an assisted living and I think she really loves it. I talk to her about once a week. She is always interested in the kids and what we are doing. We still have time to have this baby tonight, on her birthday...

My dryer has bit the dust. This is NOT a good time. Not only am I trying to stay on top of the laundry, knowing it will majorly pile up while I'm out of commission. But we are also adding another person to the household. We figured we would just bite the bullet and get a new (or new to us) set. Then today, out of the blue, God blessed us. Some friends are giving us a dryer. They had an extra and its on its way now.

Isn't that awesome?

Baby news should be on its way...

In the Safe Zone

Jody is currently on his way back home with Hattie. He should be home around 1am or soon after. I'm really glad Jody got to go and be with his family at this time and and I'm really glad he's on his way home. Now I'm ready for the baby!

Grandmother Hawkins

This morning Jody's sister called and told us that Jody's grandmother passed away.

We were very sad to hear it. Grandmother was a very special lady! She was 95 years old and I'm SURE if she could have told us, she would have assured us she was ready to be with Jesus. She loved Jesus more than just about anyone I have ever known. She was so kind and proper. (Hence the fact that she was called Grandmother). When Jody was younger and his mom was working, Grandmother would pick Jody up from the bus stop and take him home. They would play and play. She would make dinner for the family. She loved serving them.

Then, the same year I started dating Jody, Grandmother moved in with Jody's parents. She didn't drive anymore and just needed to have help close by. As the years progressed, Jody's mom faithfully cared for Grandmother. Grandmother was SO grateful. Jody remained close to her all these years. She was SO proud that he was a minister, like her husband!!

Then last year, when Jody's mom fractured her back, they had to put Grandmother in the nursing home. It was a hard decision, but one that had to be made. Grandmother was requiring 24 hour care. She died in the nursing home early this morning. Jody's mom had visited with her just yesterday.

Jody left with Hattie this morning to be with the family in Georgia. I can't travel, so I stayed with the boys. We are sleeping at my parents house, just in case! But I am really hoping and praying labor DOESN'T start while Jody is gone. The funeral is on Sunday.

More Updates

Silas lost another tooth! He pulled it out himself too! I decided on $1 a tooth. He's thrilled with that.

Luke is into this Mother Goose book right now. And the FUNNIEST thing he keeps saying is: "the dishwasher ran away with the spoon." And "where is the fork?" We don't even have a dishwasher!!

Hattie keeps yelling at my belly for the baby to come out. She really wants a roommate.

I went to the doctor today and everything is progressing nicely. It could be any day now....but maybe not. Who knows? I'm due in exactly 2 weeks.

First Tooth

Well, I think we are expecting a visit from the Tooth Fairy tonight. Although (I know this will kill some of you) Silas already knows that we are the Tooth Fairy...we just never pushed believing in the make-believe, we just play the game....sort of. Silas said, Mom, when you put the money under my pillow, can I keep the tooth?

I asked to check his loose teeth this morning. I LOVE loose teeth. I get it honest, from my obsessive dad. And this one was REALLY loose. I wiggled it a little. Silas was nervous. I told him to just wiggle it and twist it today. Then, he just goes, "Look, I got it!". It was cute.

How much does the Tooth Fairy pay these days?

We had a great Halloween. We went to Publix (a grocery store) and they had icecream, popcorn, candy...pretty fun. Then we headed over to trick-or-treat with some friends. We got home SO late, but it was fun.

Today we spent the morning working on switching over summer/ winter clothes and organizing the boy's room. I was SO glad Jody was able to help me with this job!!

Then I was able to go into town with some other friends and show them around town. (Cathy and Danielle Montero. Danielle came up to look at NGU...she'll be a freshman next year and I used to babysit her!) Jody was so sweet to keep the kids all afternoon even though UGA was playing (and lost!). I had a great afternoon. CVS's 50% Halloween candy. Starbucks. AND...I got gas for $1.96 at Walmart! I filled up our Suburban for $43! ISn't that unbelievable??
