First Tooth

Well, I think we are expecting a visit from the Tooth Fairy tonight. Although (I know this will kill some of you) Silas already knows that we are the Tooth Fairy...we just never pushed believing in the make-believe, we just play the game....sort of. Silas said, Mom, when you put the money under my pillow, can I keep the tooth?

I asked to check his loose teeth this morning. I LOVE loose teeth. I get it honest, from my obsessive dad. And this one was REALLY loose. I wiggled it a little. Silas was nervous. I told him to just wiggle it and twist it today. Then, he just goes, "Look, I got it!". It was cute.

How much does the Tooth Fairy pay these days?

Oh, I don't think I'll be able to hand that. I don't mind my own loose teeth, but somebody else's? I still can't believe he's old enough to have lost a tooth already!=)

Alot! I am amazed at how much my kindergarten students are getting from the "tooth fairy." I always got a dollar. Some of my kids are getting 5 or 10 dollars per tooth. Outrageous!

Abby tells me her friends get $5 a tooth, too - drives me nuts! We're still a "quarter per tooth" family - it's not like they had to do any work for it!

Congratulations! I get so excited every time Sara loses a tooth! I usually give her a toonie ($2 coin) for each tooth. And she knows I'm the tooth fairy too... :-)

Didn't your dad try pulling one of your teeth by tying a string to the tooth and the other end to a doorknob? I have this memory of that....

Here's my advice (I learned the hard way) don't start out too big, because then you are pressured to keep that up. I think Gage got around $3-$5 for that first tooth, and I think he got a book and a few pieces of change for the second one (because the tooth fairy was out of money!)!? He thinks the tooth fairy is awesome! So, just keep that in mind.....start out small and work your way up. Besides you'll go broke with all of the teeth that will be lost at your house! :-)

I've heard some tooth fairy's give less if a tooth has a cavity...

$2.00 for good ones and $.50 for bad ones.... or whatever the rate is at your house.

Thought that was good to keep kids brushing on their own!

We live at the poor house, with four kids, and these days someone loses a tooth every week. So the tooth fairy is non-existant. My kids are so deprived!
