My First Speeding Ticket

Not so say that I haven't deserved a speeding ticket before, but I have never been pulled over...until this weekend.

I'm so mad at myself. I wasn't in a hurry, I wasn't intentionally speeding. Ugh!

I had met my sister-in-law, Jerre, halfway between her house and my in-laws to pick up two of her kids. I had 3 of my kids in the car also. We were on our way back and I saw the lights in the rearview mirror. I was pulled over for going 62 in a 45!!!! Ahh!

I almost got it real trouble. Those of you who know me know I don't mince words. I am not the most tactful person. I have a hard time NOT speaking up.

The policeman said, "Now ma'am, I know most people get their preachin' on Sundays, but I'm just going to tell you to slow down." He smelled like a chimney. I bit my tongue instead of saying, "Well, you should stop smoking because I think that's more hazardous for your health!" I had a flash in my mind of what could/would happen if I had let that slip. I'm so glad I exhibited self-control!!

When he left, Hattie asked me,"Do you have to go to jail mommy?"

There was no price on my ticket. I'm supposed to go to court (5+ hours from my house) in March. I guess I'll call the courthouse tomorrow and get my fine.

Oh well. Bummer.

I have yet to be pulled over, but I would really chap my hide if it happened when I didn't realize what I was doing!!
